Chauvin trial: The defense found a guy to say Chauvin's actions were justified.

What rock to these kind of people live under? Such people obviously have a very dark world view where the lack of humanity is just fine with them.

This witness seems to like the hypothetical scenario that could have but didn't occur.

If Chauvin was so frightened and scared than he should testify himself and tell the jury and the world what he was afraid of for over 9 minutes.

1. His testimony is not nearly as specific as Seth Stoughton's was.

Seth Stoughton testified yesterday. He is a former police officer, university professor and on a number of boards that establish and review police standards. So far, this guy hasn't touched Stoughton's testimony.

28. Defense asked how he got involved in the

case. He said he contacted the state as he felt he had something to offer. The prosecution objected based on hearsay and the judge overruled. It didn’t go further than that, i.e. what he wanted to offer but I suspect he was consistently wanting to speak up for Chauvin.

So far, he’s the only expert witness who took the initiative to contact.

questioning when they ask whethernthe witness was paid, how much, how they got involved. The prosecutor’s objection made it clear they didn’t want to but honestly to me he came across not as looking for a pay day but more issue-directed. Dunno, but he was so myopic in his Chauvin defense that he seems more like a cop-no-matter-what kinda guy, esp if the victim is black.

8. I'm waiting to hear how he justifies kneeling on a man's neck for nearly ten minutes, even though

the individual was handcuffed, prone on the pavement, with two other officers on top of him, not actively resisting, crying out he couldn't breathe 27 times, finally becoming unresponsive after five minutes in this position, while Chauvin still kept his knee on his neck for several minutes longer till he died.

for the defense.

This is a defense witness who is now getting questioned EXTENSIVELY by prosecution and, IMHO, appears reluctant even while agreeing with prosecution lines of logic.

The rest is just flailing.

The defense is doing what the defense has to do. All people get a defense.

But I think Dr. Tobin was the sharpest of stakes right into the heart of things. It feels like the defense is just kind of going through the motions at this point.

It will be interesting to see on what charge the actual conviction is.
