House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has invited President Joe Biden to deliver his first address to a joint session of Congress on April 28. The address will come just before his 100th day in office.
Nearly 100 days ago, when you took the oath of office, you pledged in a spirit of great hope that Help Is On The Way. Now, because of your historic and transformative leadership, Help Is Here, Pelosi said in a letter to the president.
In that spirit, I am writing to invite you to address a Joint Session of Congress on Wednesday, April 28, to share your vision for addressing the challenges and opportunities of this historic moment.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the invitation.

(128,823 posts)it's a shame that this was not played up more. Maybe the media are afraid to hear what he has to say. I *know* there will NOT be 600+ people in that chamber due to COVID-19 protocols when this kicks off and I expect that "guests" will probably be limited to whatever few might be "featured" in the address (if any - although they could be given a nod virtually). Congressional members will most likely also be seated up in the galley to spread them out in there (at least those who choose to attend) in a manner not unlike what went on with the Joint Sessions related to the Electoral College vote count and final certification.
And expect the security to be unprecedented.
Thank you for posting!!
