Missing stimulus check. Does anyone know what to do?

Hi all,

Get My Payment shows that my check was scheduled to be mailed on 3/31. Informed Delivery showed my check on 4/8. Checked the mail today 4/13 but still no check. All other mail has come. I have marked the mail as missing. I have called the Post Office twice but haven’t gotten any insight. Is the next step to call the IRS? How long should I wait? Getting nervous and very frustrated. I have seen quite a few other reports like mine. If only I knew what is going on.

1. Have you filed taxes?

There is a box to check if you did not receive the $600. Not sure what to do about the $1400.

Seems there should be somewhere people can report missing funds.

4. I filed for 2019

This is the third stimulus I am missing, so if I don’t get it, I would have to report it for 2021. Thank you for the support!

It took a month for the second one, but I got it when it was mailed. Not the case with this third one. So annoying.

It is not likely to have been stolen. My neighborhood has a community mail center where you have lock boxes.

The Post Office said they can’t trace it. But perhaps I could actually go the Post Office once rather than calling.

23. My accountant said that both the April/May $1200 & Dec $600 can be handled on your 2020 return.

2. I got a letter from the IRS

informing me that the 2nd stimulus had been sent to me Feb., 26 but I didn't get the IRS letter until two weeks later. It said that $600 was issued to me. I never got it so I tried to call but their phone system wouldn't let me get through for two weeks. I finally got a human being on March 28th. I had to be put on hold for 1 1/2 hours.

The IRS person said that the stimulus was sent on Jan., 6th!!!!! That is the day of the DC riots so maybe that is why I still didn't receive it. I was told they can't cancel it and issue a new check. What will happen is a trace has been put on the check and/or I should receive a packet of forms to fill out by April 28th. I received the 1st stimulus last year via a check in the mail. I got the 3rd stimulus a few weeks ago.

Now I am suspicious...why did I get the 1st and 3rd (via US mail in a $1,200 paper check and as a $1,400 debit card) without any letter from the IRS but no 2nd stimulus. Why did I get a letter and no $$$ this time?

I got a letter too, but no payment until about a week ago.

3. I just got mine a few days ago. Checked a few months back and nothing. Had unique IRS identity

issues, but, surprise, showed up in my bank account last week.

Had an unplanned auto bill of $800.00 and I bought a flight control system (yoke/ruddar/throttle/flaps) for MS FS2020.

your 2021 income tax return.

18. Are you talking actual physical checks that you will need to take to your bank?

Or other kinds of electronic payments? There is a bit of difference here.

My account was closed and they tried sending to the closed account. So they mailed me a check.

My brother is a Vietnam era vet and his was deposited today 4/14.

Sucks that Vets had to wait until the end of the line.

26. Called the Post Office again today

She said it is not in the mail today. But she said the mail has been all backed up. Said it will get here but might take a few more days. If not here by Monday, I will call my Representative’s office.

27. Update - still no check

I talked to the mail carrier and he had not seen it. I filed a help request with the USPS. I also contacted my Representative and she said they can help once the IRS payment trace date starts. So just waiting right now.

Check showed up again in Informed Delivery today! So I hope it is finally here. Mail comes around 3-4 so will update then.

What happened is I think it was sent to the wrong facility and had to work its way through the whole system again.
