To spare her the humiliation?

They could have begun the work of regaining the trust of the community if they'd publicly perp-walked her.

Anyone else (especially if they were black) accused of murder would have faced the long handcuffed walk to the squad car.

TWENTY-SIX YEARS on the force and she makes a blunder like this? Where an innocent man DIES??? Shot to death by her “oopsie”?

If she were a rookie, it might, repeat - MIGHT - be at least minimally understandable. If it were her first or second time out, in the field, or she was a trainee, maybe. MAYBE a wee bit.
