Not really kudos, per se, but I'm glad that the Fox News audience is exposed to this.

(9,944 posts)... she should be applauded for telling the truth, which I'm sure a lot of her Congressional peers quietly know. Still, I wonder if she would tell the truth about a certain Vice-President helping to create a "Big Lie" in order to justify a war.

If Liz is holding firm I believe she knows what she's doing and it's less about "principles" and more about the long game of what's coming down the pike for #Traitor

(14,164 posts)She is just a smarter Republican.
And she knows the risk, that hey, Trump may just win again. Then she has to take her lumps.
But why not position oneself, if you were a prominent Republican with a pedigree, on the other side of the Republican party. Sure it may be a sparse room now. Because most R's are cowards. But if and when the Trump cult finally disintegrates from eating itself through more and more crazy, and more importantly, they start to lose the biggest corporations, and under new louder pressure to reject Jim Crow and QAnon, there will be a new void to fill for the old school conservative voices.
I don't think she had much of a chance at even the same position as her father had, before Trump. Because Cheney and Bush would have been the last Republican evil empire swing voters remembered. And all their lies and needless deaths.
She sees this as an opportunity to gamble on the Trump cult imploding. And she has good odds. Especially being one of the only Rs standing up now. And when the dust settles, she will be one of the "principled" ones to still be standing.
And if she ever did gain more power, of course she'd go back to tax cuts for her family and the rest of the wealthy classes, cut regulations, empower Wall Street, etc etc etc..... She just would make sure to do all that crap by the book and with a straight face.

(7,271 posts)on these insurrectionists jerks in Congress, the Senate before, during and after Trump nomination, Helsinki, Jan 6th, now?
When the blow back on Liz Cheney on Jan 6th, vote to impeach, etc became a flashpoint, Daddy didn't seem to phone it in to his "company" agents. Didn't deal with Fox Exec's and lay down the gauntlet with a Pro-America edict.
still scratching my head. either his connections were never quite what we imagined or thought we knew, or they got disappeared by Trump Admin vis a vis firings. or there were just too few capable. Which tells us what exactly, I'm not sure.

(14,164 posts)"How........how do you reconcile that balance that that that if you are doing things at home...but not invited to any of these big national Republican functions?"
reconcile what balance?
The balance to have to pretend to be gushing over the former guy in order to be invited to the party?
Like he does? For him there is no debate on the side he'd run to. He's perplexed by her but can't badger her because she is the daughter of a prominent ex R VP.
And then in the second clip, I "love" that confusing slightly shocked troubled pause after she determinedly states "I would not" when asked if she would vote for Trump in 2024. Confused because he is so used to Republicans coming on and toeing the party talking points, which now can all be reduced down to "Trump is our God".

(70,447 posts)Ive been very clear about my views of what happened on January 6th. I obviously voted to impeach him. I think it was the gravest violation of an oath of office by any president in American history
