Unlike S Korea and Europe, in Afghanistan there are forces actively trying to kill Americans.

There will be an embassy guard, which will probably be bigger than most other ones, partly because of the size of the compound.
There will also be a strong black ops presence there, I'm sure.
But active duty military? No.
