Afghanistan, a war with no enemy can't be won.
Not saying there aren't evil people in the country but I am saying it's not a country. It is and always has been a collection of family based tribes run by warlords. There's no one thing or government or movement to defeat. Or negotiate with.
Yeah, the British drew a line around this piece of land, but it's not a country. There is a 'government' in Afghanistan and there is a Taliban but both are artificial structures trying to herd what amounts to a bunch of cats into one entity. It's not going to happen.
Afghanistan remains the place that Empires go to die.
