To summarize: Trump's campaign chair and deputy campaign chair provided an internal strategy memo and private polling to a Russian agent who then passed it onto Russian intelligence agencies. The Kremlin then used that information to try to help Trump win the 2016 election.

@MarshallCohen
For the first time EVER, the US government said Russian agent Konstantin Kilimnik provided Russian intelligence agencies with the internal Trump campaign polling/strategy data he received from Manafort and Gates in 2016. Even Mueller didn't go that far. https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy0126

Trump Campaign Chair Manafort gave sensitive polling data to his associate Kilimnik, Russian intel agent.
What did Kilimnik do with it?

(70,447 posts)BTW It wasn't campaign polling data but data analytics that let Russia micro target
very selected spots in order to rat fuck our elections in 2016.
crickets
(25,951 posts)really should be released by now. Also, the difference in polling data vs data analytics is important. Strange that Treasury didn't make the distinction.
An unredacted Mueller report might answer some of these questions.
It's an impressive sanctions list, especially in naming many of the disinformation sources. Damn, but it's great to have competence back in government again, eh?

(70,447 posts).... rat fuck our elections. Roger Stone, Eric Prince, and the Mercers were in the mix too.
Having our electronic voting machines with electronic back doors programed into them that
allowed for the viewing and manipulation of the data without leaving any electronic fingerprints
I believe was a big part too. Sometimes on things like ESS machines this could be done remotely.
Here is Alexander Torshin, Maria Butina's handler looking at a voting machine in Luzerne County, PA.

Funny enough Luzerne County had been voting blue every Presidential election from either 1988 or
1992 but it when red in 2016 and back to blue 2018 and 2020. The Russians ran a fake group called
miners for Trump in order to explain Trump's win there in 2016.
Polling data is one thing but data analytics weaponizes it.

(29,322 posts)Konstantin Kilimnik is the direct link between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence. I did a lot of research on Russia interference so I already knew this. What else was he going to do with the polling data?

(9,090 posts)relationship and use of limbaugh
investigators have to include radio , the classic 100 year old propaganda form that has been doing a number on the US for 30 years with objectives very common with putin - global warming denial, undermining democracy, getting palin into the white house, then trump, for example
all the main characters manafort, stone, corsi, trump have close connections with use of radio, which is what a lot of the social media trolling piggybacked

(9,090 posts)of rw radio. the main characters - 'liberal deep state' (ha) elite - obama clinton soros yates brennan, rice, strzok, etc - were a big part of the limbaugh deep state russia hoax vs trump narrative that started up loud from limbaugh around 2017 inauguration and i think the q-anon part was a social media ramp up for a younger crowd as well as the more radical crowd. it probably appealed to abuse victims. they not be listening to the more subtle limbaugh directly but maybe more to beck, jones, levin maybe, and some of the loonier night shows. it's malpractice for media and political polsters not to poll for talk radio.
from that link:
Russian accounts had helped spread QAnon in volume beginning in December 2017
team limbaugh had been setting up a continuously morphing complicated convoluted narrative to counter the russian collusion evidence and stories coming out and i don't know what his sources were but it sounded like something the russians would do first as they tried to excuse trump and the other republican helpers, written/dedsigned by intel pros and lawyers, then feed to team limbaugh through intermediaries with limbaugh being point man.
investigators really need to look back to palin/2008, tea party, climategate/2009, debt default/2011, benghazi/email etc, ebola/2014, and sam nunberg really needs to be asked details to determine if the "1000s of hours of talk radio" trump wanted him to listen to and write notes on in 2014 involved the battleground states the russians targeted, for instance.
