Pat Robertson Does Taser/Glock Demo On Air, Goes OFF on Cops: We Dont Have the Finest in the Police DepartmentBy Tommy ChristopherApr 15th, 2021, 12:35 pm
700 Club host and evangelical leader Pat Robertson demonstrated the difference between a Glock handgun and a Taser on air, then let loose a rant against the onslaught of police violence that he chalked up to a low-quality and poorly-paid workforce.
Following a news report on the arrest of former police officer Kim Potter for the killing of Daunte Wright, Robertson and co-host Terry Meeuwsen used visual aids to discuss Potters claim that she mistook her sidearm for a Taser.
Theres just no comparison, Robertson said, wielding plastic models of each weapon, and added Now how she made the difference, when she shot that poor guy to death, saying this is what I thought was my Taser. And if you cant tell the difference in the feel of those things, its crazy. Robertson then touched on other recent incidences of police violence.
You know I am pro police folks, I think we need the police, we need their service, and they do a good job, but if they dont stop this onslaught, they cannot do this, Robertson said, then referenced the Virginia traffic stop that ended in violence against Army Lt. Caron Nazario, as well as the trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd.

and a tremendous benefits package.
The video of the white guy hitting police cars, attempting to run over cops, taking a cop for a ride as he was stuck to car, and hitting with a hammer seems to indicate that cops can show restraint.
He wasn't shot.

I gotta give the Rev. credit for this. I am no supporter for 95% of the things he says and does but this was the right time for him to speak out about this broken institution. The qualifications standards for hiring and training our LEOs has to get much much better.

is simply that the police *believe* that they can get away with anything, and they will never experience any consequences.

(25,977 posts)14. But he thinks they aren't paid enough. 🤦♀️
And the police, why dont they open their eyes to what the public relations are, theyve got to stop this stuff, he added, to which Meeuwsen replied Maybe they need more training. Consistent training.
Robertson was a hard no on that proposition.
Robertson was a hard no on that proposition.
I think the problem is theyve got to pay them more. We dont have the finest in the police department. Theyre low-paid people, Terry, they dont get adequate Its not a question of training, its a question of hiring a more superior workforce, and we arent doing it.
Pat's on the right track, but still a little confused about the nature of the problem. He's right in that we do need better candidates in the police workforce, but just throwing money at them isn't the answer. Training is a big part of the problem, and that's where the time and money would be better spent. Oversight, doing something about the outsized influence of the police 'unions' and qualified immunity are other issues that need to be addressed.
