Brave Cops Fight Breast Cancer By Arresting People Using Pink Handcuffs

https://jezebel.com/brave-cops-fight-breast-cancer-by-arresting-people-usin-1846689764

As it does every year, breast cancer awareness month starts in October. But officers at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department are getting a head start on the pink parade by using pink handcuffs, pink badges, and other pink uniform accessories to—uh, remind the people that they are arresting to get screened for breast cancer. I wish that I was making this up.

Alex Villanueva, an actual sheriff in Los Angeles, tweeted about the pink initiative on Wednesday and included a photo of himself and two other officers holding their new pink cuffs. Sadly, their guns will not also be pink.

But will their Tazers be Pink?

Possibly not the best day to start this campaign.

Pink badges & pink handcuffs, all meant to grab your attention as we raise awareness and pray for a cure to end Breast Cancer!

Because of Covid, many women have put off mammograms and other cancer screenings.

Last haircut I got before Covid I was asked if I wanted to make a donation for breast cancer by the barber. I said "Of course not I am 100% against breast cancer" (then put $ 10 in the donation jar).

Not a particularly bright sixth grader at that.

I hate even more that it is starting 6 months early.

And, the point in the article about late diagnosis of cervical and breast cancer among the incarcerated is valid. My (incarcerated) brother was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer - despite extensive complaints about syptoms at a time when diagnosis would have extended his life/saved him.
