I know several women who work at this FedEx facility. They were working on the day shift last time we talked but I'm anxious to find out if they're ok.

I got up at my usual time, flipped on MSNBC and heard Kacie Hunt mention another mass shooting. My first cynical reaction was “where now?” My stomach fell when I heard Indianapolis.

I hope your friends are all okay.

Company policy. Can be written up, and I assume fired, for violating it. This is why 30-some families are still waiting in a nearby hotel for damn near 12 hours after it happened to hear if their loved ones are okay. That, my friends, is my idea of a living hell.

Supposedly the policy is for “safety reasons,” but I suspect there’s much more to it than company care and concern.

These kinds of places can be ground zero for mass shootings. Cellphones at least can help give immediate notice. This policy has to change.

"Thank God for being here because I thought I was going to get shot," Miller told the station.

What about the other 10 people shot, 8 of whom are dead. God was only there for Miller?
I get the traumatic reaction, but geez!

manufactured and imported every year. And a minimally maintained gun will remain functional for centuries. The oldest gun I ever fired was a British Snider rifle. It was modified to fire brass cartridges in 1868, but actually manufactured in 1856. Still perfectly safe to shoot and reasonably accurate.

You either have it or you don’t. If you have it you’ll twist your words in all kinds of ways about “liberty” or “protection” or “responsibility” but that’s all bullshit.

It’s Gun Love, and it’s very powerful. American males who haven’t successfully grown out of their childhood fears are susceptible, and reinforced by this toxic culture.
