and, thank goodness, Maloney is from the vertebrate wing of the Democratic Party and forcefully, repeatedly and, when necessary, LOUDLY rejected REJECTED Joe's false premise.

To paraphrase, Joe was told "I refuse to waste time discussing your nonsense!"

Maloney done good.

and not paying close attention until Scarborough started to yell. From that point forward, while contentious, I didn't get the impression that Scarborough was pushing a republicon lie, but that he was asking what House Democrats were doing to be ready for the assorted lies that will be told in the next election. When the video is up, I will watch the first part to see what started it all.

The part I heard, I actually have to agree with Scarborough. Republicons are gonna run on "defund the police" "socialism" and all their other lies and boogeymen. Scar asserted that Democrats didn't do as good a job slapping those lies down as they should have, and need to do better to avoid "house speaker McCarthy and committee chair Jordan". THe same thing has been said here.

I didn't really like some of Maloney's response to that, he bragged about the 2020 control, when in fact it is a razor thin margin. Joe Biden won big over MF45, but the House and Senate situation is worrisome, not brag-worthy. When one Senator, and a Democrat at that, can stand in the way of our progress, that's a win which needs improvement not boasting.

In any case, if HR1 doesn't become law soon, all of this kind of arguing is pointless. When gerrymandering is fine-tuned and state voter suppression increases, Democrats won't be able to win control anyway, no matter how much public support they have.

Joe pressed Maloney to answer this question (I am paraphrasing): given the Republicans' relentless public spin of "defund the police" narrative, are the Democrats prepared to challenge their narrative in an equally public manner in 2022, or are they prepared to lose the House over it? It sounded like a fair question to ask, but Maloney skirted a direct answer and instead blamed Joe for amplifying the GOP propaganda and pushing the "defund the police" narrative himself.

Myself, I hope that the Democrats have an answer to this question even if they seem reluctant to answer it publicly. They will not be able to avoid facing it in '22, and their appeal to independent voters depends heavily on how effectively they can debunk this GOP talking point.

Joe Scar was on his usual right wing talking point blather, attacking Dems using current RW tropes: Cancel Culture, Defund the Police etc.

Insisting we're going to lose the House in 2022 and what is Maloney/Dem party going to do about it, and what does he have to say about "defunding the police", and cancel culture...

When I heard Joe Scar put that question to Maloney, I reached for my remote, but then Maloney went on a tear that brought joy to my heart.

It was great. Look for the clip if you can find it. it's worth the watch.
