Cenk Uygur Says He’s ‘Heartbroken’ to Berate ‘Do-Nothing’ Progressives like AOC and Bernie Sanders for Capitulating on Minimum Wage

In a fiery segment of The Young Turks Thursday night, Ugyur tore into top progressives in Congress—namely Bernie Sanders, Pramila Jayapal and even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—for what he deemed as utter capitulation and cowardice in failing to fight for the $15 minimum wage, an issue on which they tirelessly campaigned. He also called out mainstream media reporters and editors, who, in his esteem, turned a blind eye to the blatant corruption that covers the corridors of power in Washington DC.

Discussing the minimum wage battle, Uygur deemed it obvious why many Democrats oppose raising the federal minimum wage, even if the media refuse to report it. “Corporate Democrats are all funded by corporations,” he says. “No one in the Washington media points it out, either because they suck at their jobs and are completely ignorant of what actually drives politicians or because they’re in on it. And their editors — the higher you go up the ladder the more they’re in on it. ‘Hey, you can’t disturb our advertisers and we need access to these corrupt politicians!’ So the media’s got giant culpability here.”

Recent polls have shown that raising the federal minimum wage to $15 is supported by two-thirds of Americans, and even by a majority of Republicans. Yet the mainstream media insists on describing politicians who oppose a $15 minimum wage as “moderates.”

“Whether it’s Mitt Romney, Kyrsten Sinema, or Joe Manchin, they’re not moderates — by definition,” he says. ‘They’re not moderates because two-thirds of the country says, ‘Do it.’ The number is usually even higher than that when they poll the $15 minimum wage. So every reporter in the country who keeps calling them ‘moderates’ or ‘centrists’ should be fired because they are not doing fact-based reporting, they’re doing access journalism.”

The Dore left and other YouTube hosts have been attacking mainly AOC and other Squad members and occasionally Bernie Sanders as sellouts. Cenk was reasonable at first but then received a lot of blowback from their fans so he is trying to hold onto their viewers. Cenk actually tried to run and it was a disaster. I know Sinema very well and I doubt they have any leverage over her or Manchin & Romney for that matter.

This board has been largely unaware of the pointless and exhausting progressive infighting that has been going on since December which is a good thing.

8. The little p progressive can't do any more than the progressive Democratic base has been able

to do with increasing the minimum wage but still the little p progressive's attack Democrats mercilessly over not getting the minimum wage increased making all kinds of claims like being corporatists and unwilling to increase minimum wage. They are getting a little of the same medicine they dished out seeing they have been as unsuccessful with something that the claimed was supposedly so easily done.

When it comes to AOC it seems very coordinated and she is attacked over multiple different things. Dore wanted AOC and others to withhold their vote for Pelosi for Speaker to somehow leverage her into holding a floor vote for M4A which they knew it wouldn't pass but they wanted to get them on the record so they know which Democrats to primary but the only one they seem interested in primarying is AOC. After that they continued hating AOC over issues that have nothing to do with M4A.

9. Cenk Trying to Increase Eyeballs on TYT Shitty TV Programs

Having "progressives" screaming and demanding things that don't have a snowball's chance in hell of passing only damaging them and the Democratic party. They need to ignore folks like MM and Cenk and not give Republicans weapons to hurt Dems like that "defund the police" mantra. The lastest demand to expand SC to 13 Justices when Biden just announced a commission is another example in my opinion of us being our on enemy. Pelosi was right to shut it down.

But I support Mariame Kaba and other activists that support defund the police. I don't care what anyone says I'm not changing my mind on a local city budget issue. We cut things like education or transportation and no one makes a big deal over it.

You can go to Twitter and you see people aren't going to change their mind especially Mariame Kaba who released a new book We Do This Til We Free US which I bought. I will support her work with my money but I don't care about these YouTube hosts.

Michael Moore isn't even part of the problem when it comes to this recent progressive bashing.
