Officers break arm of elderly woman with dementia

This video breaks my heart. I believe it is from last summer. It shows an elderly woman with dementia being arrested.

It’s readily apparent in the video that the woman has mental issues. I am generally supportive of law enforcement because they have a hard job, but this is blatant cruelty.

This is not posted to equate this with any of the race issues currently being discussed or to diminish those issues in any way. Those issues are a separate and very valid discussion apart from this. This particular video is not about that. This IS about elder abuse.

Officers should have a duty to de-escalate, they did the opposite of that here. uponit7771 Apr 2021 #5

The police in this country believe they have an absolute right to assault anyone who does not immediately obey their orders, even when different officers are giving contradictory orders. This old lady posed absolutely no threat to them. Yet they seem to take satisfaction in throwing her to the ground.

Who would you call if a 75 year old woman needs her arm broken and you didn't have the police? I'm generally not supportive of law enforcement because I don't think this is anything they don't do everyday.
