Being a RWNJ vs taking advantage of RWNJs

That's "Right Wing Nut Job", for those who hate undefined initialisms.

At the level of the US House and Senate, some of the elected Republicans are probably just as bat shit crazy and bigoted as the people who vote for them. Let's not pretend you have to be smart or sane, or even pretend to be a decent human being, to get into power.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are plenty of simply amoral, ambitious tyrants-in-waiting who know full well how insane the mob they're playing for is. They chose to play the part of diehard Republican because they've figured out Republican voters make the best, most easily manipulated marks.

Trump has barely a few dozen functioning brain cells, but the synapses that are still firing are the ones that know how to find a sucker, and how to con that sucker. So of course he ran as a Republican.

How would you guess this breaks down for Republicans in Congress?

People who are far too trusting and naive, and get manipulated that way.

That's not the kind of sucker Republicans take the most advantage of.

The ones in the Senate seem to be faking it and taking advantage of the nut job voters.

You don't need anywhere near the talent or the cunning to win a gerrymandered House seat as you do to win a state-wide election, even in a red state.

I used to call it the RWNM(Right Wing Noise Machine) but it started to tip over into full blown hate about 15 years ago.
