Serious, legitimate question: Is there something mentally wrong with Greg Kelly?

I mean, he's not nobody. He was a White House correspondent for Fox News and an occasional fill-in host on Fox and Friends. Now he has his own show on Newsmax. And while that resume is compiled of jobs are far from what anyone would call distinguished credentials worthy of a Morrow, a Cronkite or a Rather, you would still think any television producer, even for shill right wing networks, still would have some sort of minimum qualifications before sticking a television camera in someone's face.

But you look over the guy's Twitter feed, he seems to be some sort of ridiculous caricature. Is the guy some sort of Andy Kaufman-esqe long con, trolling the public for years with a bizarre alternate personality?

Or is he actually mentally not with it?

I first came across his name when he was criticizing Joe Biden's dog Champ for, um, being old?

The account's not verified so I was tempted to say it was just a satire account, but the thing is, it actually matches up with what he's said on his Newsmax show.

His Twitter posts read like something written for the very funny and actual Twitter satire account @walterowensgrpa, where the poster plays a not-quite-social-media adept user named "Walter" whose perpetually wrong and confused takes on politics is a perfect parody of actual not-social-social-media-adept users online screeds.

Except unlike Walter, Greg Kelly appears to be 100% legit. And 100% confused about everything.

Just take this recent post:

I’m not sure why
@SenTedCruz has a @blaireerskine handling his COMMS DEPARTMENT. Not Good at staying On Message! She’s definitely “OVER HER SKIS” as they say in the BELTWAY. But she’s “Good People”—even GOT HITCHED I’m told at TRUMP DISNEY WORLD. Welcome Aboard Blaire!

For the uninitiated, Blaire Erskine is a Twitter comedian whose act is to post 1-2 minute videos of her playing some relative or associate of some embattled political figure and comically attempting to explain away whatever shitstorm they happen to be caught up in. It's easy to be fooled by her once, but once you know her name and know that her act doesn't actually involve any costumes or affectations--it's always just her being her--you know it's just a funny bit.

And perhaps Greg didn't know that Blaire was just playing a bit, but that's actually beside the point. His weird non-sequiturs--"TRUMP DISNEY WORLD"--and random caps locks asides just come off as being someone who is not mentally with it.

And yet he has his own TV show. Granted, on Newsmax--which says all you need to know about Newsmax--but still. Is it normal to have people who don't appear to be living in any sort of basic reality hosting TV shows?

One weird thing: In his Wiki entry, it actually says that he is the son of former NY Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly. And that in 2012, he was accused of sexual assault, but not charges were brought.

It's just...bizarre.

But then again, in the world of people like Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, am I really surprised?
