I know the public has become desensitized to the almost weekly mass shootings in the past month or so. Still, less than ten minutes coverage at the top of the news hour? Very little or no mention of gun control? Just a deadpan and almost formulaic reference to grief or compassion for the families? Horrifically inadequate.
If this is how it is to be, what can we expect next week or whenever the next shooting occurs? A brief mention of it in the crawling headlines at the bottom of the screen?
Also, I understand that no one wants to glorify the shooter, but no mention of his identity or a picture at all? It almost seems like the media doesn't want to discuss it which is really weird. It feels like they want us to become even more desensitized than some already are. The throwing up the hands and declaring that nothing can be done is part of that.
I am very sorry for the victims and their families and if I were them I would be as angry as hell.

I fear that 8 adults being shot to death while at work is just not all that exciting of a storyline for the media anymore. Has to be something really notable for them to care about hyping it.
IOW, a bunch of children, or a LOT of people, or a racial/political component that will capture public interest.
The amount of time spend on news stories is not based on actual import, but rather on viewer ratings and clicks, so ...
