psychopath can post on some type of social media not just total falsehoods, but transparently ridiculous accusations of ANYTHING from child sex trafficking to consorting with alien reptiles if there's a chance it may damage a political adversary's reputation.

(19,200 posts)The Fairness Doctrine worked, at least for the media. There wouldn't be a FOX Noise, an OAN, or a NewsMax with the Fairness Doctrine still in place.
After the GOP did away with the Fairness Doctrine they started buying up hundreds of failing AM radio stations, and well.....the rest is history. Limbaugh took over and the GOP has been lying it's way into people's minds ever since.

The Fairness Doctrine only applied to broadcast licenses.
The report by the Congressional Research Service notes that broadcast is "distinct from cable, satellite, and the Internet, which are all services for which consumers must pay.
"It does not appear that the Fairness Doctrine may be applied constitutionally to cable or satellite service providers," it continues.
