Least Vaccinated Counties Have Something in Common

April 17, 2021 at 7:33 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

New York Times: “The disparity in vaccination rates has so far mainly broken down along political lines. The New York Times examined survey and vaccine administration data for nearly every U.S. county and found that both willingness to receive a vaccine and actual vaccination rates to date were lower, on average, in counties where a majority of residents voted to re-elect former President Donald J. Trump in 2020. The phenomenon has left some places with a shortage of supply and others with a glut.”

It is taught from the perspective of something that must never happen again. Here, we barely focus on the Holocaust (sort of the it was bad, bad people did these things, let’s move on approach). Not much about the political views that gave rise to Nazism or any real analysis of how Hitler used propaganda and selective violence to achieve power and carry out his destructive white nationalist agenda. And certainly no comparison of our own homegrown white nationalism and right-wing propaganda media as tools to foment racism and violence in the US, all to retain power for white people.

I don’t know whether to call Greene’s comments total ignorance or Machiavellian manipulation to support white nationalist goals of white power and minority extinction. .

Many of the homes are much like you describe, dilapidated hovels on the verge of being condemned, yet still the occupants worship him.

I did a job in a trailer court a few months ago most of the units in terrible condition but proudly displaying Trump signs. Trump wouldn’t allow these people anwhere near him or his family or his beloved Ma-a-lago, yet they think that he’s “their guy.”

The impact of any president, good or bad, can last for years. We are still living with the effects of Reagan's deregulations and GW Bush's insane wars. Trump will fade away, but there will always be reminders here and there, which I suppose is a good thing. May we never forget lest we become politically apathetic.

Unwittingly, Trump revealed many societal problems that needed to be addressed, including systemic racism throughout our society and institutions. I suppose in many respects that was a good thing, though I wish we would have done that without him.

As for that "dreadful name", it really should always mean something, a reminder of how close we came to losing our democracy. It should be synonymous with American Tyrant and reviled the same as Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin. But yes, I know what you meant and I too hope the day will come when that awful name and that horrible man has no power whatsoever.

Some QAnon followers believe that Ivanka Trump has been executed by her father after she posted a picture of herself being given a vaccine.

This is just one of many conspiracy theories that exploded on QAnon channels after Trump posted a picture on Twitter of herself getting a COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday.

It's a hoax, but we're not giving enough credit to TFG for the vaccine they won't take. They want to go back to normal, but refuse to do things that allow us to open up.

Among other things, the former guy obliterated trust in expertise and science. Anti intellectualism on par with the Dark ages.

They all have guns or access to them anyway, and love reality TV. GQP, Macho idiots, self righteous prigs, manipulators, wannabes...

Let them blow their brains out and broadcast it. I won't be watching but maybe after enough cult members die from that some will realize they might as well get the vaccine.

Of course, there would be a large number of folks who would pursue victory til the end.
As I write this I just thought it would be a good way to get rid of them and guns (when they die their guns are taken) and for them to vent their blood lust, like ancient battles in the coliseum. Faux news would broadcast it. If 45 was the MC it could really take off. Lol Of course they'd rather go after minorities and the disenfranchised, but with Russian roulette we could get rid of a bunch of them and make them happy in the process.

For example, my county has the second largest population center in the state, but the local hospital and didn't setup the mass vaccination site here until end of March. Other places in the state had one at least a month or more before us. My county is trailing behind in vaccination rate because of that...but I will tell you people seem to want to get vaccinated in my city because the hospitals mass vaccination clinic is totally booked up and impossible to get anything at the pharmacies around here too. You have to drive 50 miles from here to find a free appointment.

We wanted to fly in on April 10. No sweat. Would April 12 be OK? Sure. Would May 10 be acceptable for the second shot? Sure! It was our preferred date! Location preference? Blue people live in red counties.

My county in NC is 60/40 red, with a population of 117,000, with numerous retirement facilities and communities. Early in the vaccine rollout it was difficult for many to get an appointment, waiting lists were very long; but when I became eligible several weeks ago I was able to schedule my appointment for the following day.

All over the US we've had to deal with supply and demand issues, in red and blue and purple states and counties. We had no federal guidelines in place at the start, and it's actually remarkable how the vaccines have been distributed across the country. J & J being added and now on hold will cause a blip but the vaccinations continue.

If the cult 45 members don't want the vaccine, let's get them involved in a Russian roulette tournament and hasten their demise.

The same imbalance occurs in the relative glut of idiots in bright red counties, so what else could you expect? I propose a trade. Idiots for vaccine. "Those" counties aren't going to need all the vaccine they are allotted, and clearly have no problem with having these troglodytes walking among them, so...

Seems like a good solution to me. At least a work-around.
