Republicans in congress know their post-politics career will include speaking tours, book tours, board directorships, maybe even a company to run. And donors will find ways to enrich their families as well.

The Republican Party itself might be not-for-profit, but everything about the way republicans actually function in practice is.

The currency of the realm. Besides, where would these jokers get a job if it wasn't Congress, a body that's become the home to scammers, jackals and born-again racists.

They've found their place in life; they're loathe to leave it.
