1. There's money involved. There's always money involved for republicans.

Republicans in congress know their post-politics career will include speaking tours, book tours, board directorships, maybe even a company to run. And donors will find ways to enrich their families as well.

The Republican Party itself might be not-for-profit, but everything about the way republicans actually function in practice is.
