..."The mom of the 18-year-old Ohio man caught with an AK-47 in a midtown Manhattan subway said her son wasnt planning any violence he just thought it would be okay to visit New York with an assault rifle in tow.
...
He was visiting Times Square for the first time to see it in person. He was so excited and happy and had no other reasons for being in NY! she said.
Teague whose father was killed in a police shootout in Columbus, Ohio last month was arrested Friday around 12:30 p.m. inside the 42nd St./Port Authority station, sitting near a cell phone charging station with the AK-47 in plain view.
Police found the rifle on the ground next to Teagues foot and a magazine containing seventeen rounds along with one loose round in a paper bag within his reach, according to a criminal complaint. Cops also found an empty shell casing in his backpack."...(more)

(14,853 posts)After years of Republican legislative control, and their obvious goals to either do nothing or to actively harm the general welfare, it's "open carry" in Ohio now.
Not that I'd ever do it.

They do not even have the guts to dump Householder.

As more cities expand we aim to change that. One of our Senators is now in charge of his committee. Very popular man in Ohio. We had a Democratic Governor before Kasich. He was blamed for the Bush recession.

(2,636 posts)Stop an economic policy no one is advocating. Means of production are privately owned. Unless he equates Social Security with Socialism? He'd like to stop paying social security benefits? Good luck with that in Ohio.
End consequences for one's actionsBusiness owner says hateful things about a segment of the population. They choose to shop elsewhere. This is the invisible hand of the free market to work.
Running against things that don't exist and offering zero plans, policies, or platforms you support is demagoguery. Applying metaphors from television to real life business transactions and relationships (shows are canceled because no one watches them. They're unpopular shows) is evidence they are delusional and can not discern fantasy from reality.

(25,467 posts)His father was just killed in a shootout with police. I think it's more likely that it's a gun nut family and they're not as ignorant as they're portraying themselves, at least where the laws are concerned. I suspect legality had little to do with it.
If anything, many diehards seem to be more aware - even hyper-aware - of gun laws than everyone else.

But it is getting worse. Easter Day I was driving home. Road blocked in both directions. 2 people shot a short time earlier I could have been in it.

What is interesting is how many of these gun carriers are scared to death. This is not about gun rights. This is not about standing your ground. This is about being scared stiff over black/brown people, nothing more, nothing less. Thus they strap up to try and strengthen their manhood.

He needs about 10 years in prison followed by a lifetime on the TERRORIST WATCHLIST.

I have plenty of experience firing AK-47's, a very well designed full auto but kept very simple to operate.

(14,918 posts)..."Andrew Teague, 43, was shot and killed by authorities in Columbus, Ohio, on Mar. 5 following a wild pursuit on Interstate 270.
Authorities were trying to arrest Teague for a felonious assault warrant related to a Feb. 2 incident before the deadly encounter, cops said.
Police pursued Teague for more than an hour, and in an attempt to flee, Teague drove the wrong way on I-270 and ultimately struck two other vehicles head-on within minutes.
Chief Deputy Jim Gilbert of the Franklin County Sheriffs Office said Teague then got out of the vehicle and exchanged gunshots with a Columbus police officer and a deputy, WBNS-TV reported.
Teague who had a lengthy rap sheet, including arrests for weapons possession, domestic violence, burglary and drug trafficking was killed in the shootout. Investigators recovered a gun at the scene.
HK Woods, Teagues cousin, told The Post by phone hed been having issues with his parole officer and it drove him to the edge....(more)
(Other reporting indicated that the police chase of the elder Teague involved a warrant for felonious assault from the month before, when he shot at his own brother during a fight).

(1,327 posts)1) Mom is completely delusional if she thinks showing up to NYC as a tourist with an AK-47 is normal behavior.
2) Dad is a career criminal who was killed last week after a wrong-way chase down the interstate where he hit two other cars head on then engaged in a shootout with police.
Put these two winning gene pools together and what do you get? Hopefully they get this kid some serious mental health help, and put him on a terrorist watchlist so he's barred from owning weapons. Yikes. It's a good thing he was caught before he got to wherever his intended destination was.
