Couldn't see my hand in front of my face without glasses. Back then, schools didn't routinely test kids for eye issues. Almost failed early years because I couldn't see blackboard. Finally got glasses, but ugly, thick things. But I could see.
Love watching these little babies seeing the world for the first time.
Fortunately, today, there are very few kids who can't get glasses under Medicaid and/or CHIP.

(54,770 posts)4. Maybe. Medicare doesn't cover glasses right now, except for the first pair after cataract surgery.
Nor do they cover the cost of refraction to prescribe eyeglasses.
Would hope M-4-A would cover those and dental, but I bet it won't initially if ever enacted.

My glasses cost about another $450. So I can only afford a new pair every few years. Better than nothing, I suppose.
