He had been an outstanding football player in high school, and then joined the Marines, right out of high school to get the GI Bill for college. Got his Bachelor Degree in education at MSU and then his Masters at U of M.

But he remained a proud Spartan, his entire life.

unless I was Rocket! Just kidding

I read a short sci-fi story where, when the aliens landed, the only creature they encountered was the wolverine. It was so vicious that the aliens high-tailed it outta there and vowed never to return to earth.

They're so rare that this isn't really a problem.

Except for Raccoons. If I was a Raccoon I'd be scared.

Well, here we are in 2021 and most people are urban dwellers with an irrational fear of nature. People want to have vast, sterile lawns of grass around their homes because they fear nature. Humans stupidly have used their technology to destroy most wildlife on the planet. Greed causes humans to destroy wildlife habitat to obtain resources to sell.

Excluding the arctic, the only two species on my continent that can prey on humans are mountain lions and browns/grizzlies, and they exist only in very limited areas . Humans are not a desired prey item for either of these species and generally do their best to stay away from us. Bear spray is more effective than a firearm in deterring an attack. Attacks are very rare if a person follows wildlife guidelines. It's usually a gun-toting asshole not following wildlife guidelines that ends up killing the animal.

The long term survival of all species on the planet today will depend on humans. Our own survival depends on us traveling to colonize other planets in the solar system and beyond as Earth has a finite life span.

as they are generally people shy. The few left in the lower 48 mainly live in Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming, and sometimes range a little further south. There are much larger populations of wolverines in Alaska and Canada.

I lived on the border of wolverine habitat in the North Cascades and don't know of anyone up there who has ever seen one, or seen their tracks, but have seen most of the other members of the Mustelidae (weasel) family that live in the lower 48, including martens, fishers, badgers, and otters. (I know...Badgers?!!? We don't need no stinking badgers!

There are no documented wolverine attacks on humans.
