More supply than demand.

I've seen reporting about red states having to throw away lots of vaccine dosages because they open a crate and nobody comes to get them.

Several have taken of them have taken to allowing walk-ins just so the vaccine doesn't go to waste. For examples, some friends that live there have confirmed that Louisiana was like that

Not sure how that worked out.

I read it was an average of 11 minutes from intake to departure.

Wtf more do people want?

And it keeps on winning!

There was a man over here the other day that was giving me an estimate on some auto body work on my car.

He has a lot of public interaction and he has four kids.

He has not been vaccinated and doesn't care to be. As for the four kids, they aren't getting vaccinated either!

I found myself semi-screaming, "You have FOUR kids and you are against vaccinating them?".

He replied, "I heard kids don't get it."

I told him that yes they do and can get it and he asked me where were they? I told him in the south for one place and also, a friend of mine has two girls and both of them got it! They are 21 and 17 years of age respectively.

Stupidity wins again and again and again!

3. There Is Some Disinformation About That

Seems to be everywhere.
Here in town, there was a rumor of 120 no shows in a town of 6,000 on one day.
ESDA corrected that and said it was 13, and that 6 of those were elderly folks having a tough day. They went to their houses to give them the shot.
Of the other 7, 3 had gotten their shots elsewhere in the county between the time they reserved a spot & the actual day. (6-10 days, so I can see someone jumping at the chance to get it sooner.)
Hence, the "120 no-shows" turned out to be 4.
A guy I know a couple counties north said the same thing happened there. "Hundreds of doses" tossed because of no-shows, or lack of demand, turned out to be 22. In a county of 900,000 people.
Not saying all of these stories are inaccurate, but there seems an intentional misdirection regarding this phenomenon.
Lack of demand, but somehow 150,000,000 people have been vaxxed with at least one dose in 70 or so days, 70,000,000 getting both doses.
These numbers suggest demand is quite high, which is why I view all these reports with suspicion. Right here in my town, I know for a fact that the numbers floated around were made up.

4. Vaccines are sitting on shelves in these states. They're getting desperate to give them out - NBC

Various excerpts:

Vaccines are sitting on shelves in these states. They're getting desperate to give them out, NBC News, 4/16/21

(West Virginia) The state’s coronavirus response czar, Dr. Clay Marsh, said a number of local health departments have asked the state to pause sending additional doses until they can use up their backlog.

“We’re seeing vaccine hesitancy more than we’ve seen before,” he said. And amid a recent rise in coronavirus cases to levels not seen since late February and with the state still well short of herd immunity, he added,

Louisiana, Montana and Wyoming are also among states seeing the greatest slowdowns.

The CDC figures showing a drop in the share of vaccinations administered in many states does not yet reflect the potential impact of the federally recommended pause this week on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, as officials investigate whether the inoculation contributed to rare blood clots.

While West Virginia is coping with a steep drop in the share of shots administered, some states have struggled to whittle down their stockpiles since the beginning. At their peaks, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Arkansas and Tennessee used less than 85 percent of their doses, and as of April 15 they’ve used less than 70 percent, the lowest in the nation.

Alabama has seen a 13 percentage point decrease in shots administered.

In January, Mississippi’s appointment site struggled to handle the surge of statewide demand for doses at massive drive-thru clinics. Now, open slots linger in the thousands.

6. Send those vaccines to states where people are not hesitant.

If state is allocated vaccines and citizens aren't lining up to be vaccinated, don't send more vaccines to that state.

And publicize the fact, that since the Republicans don’t want them, all the kids coming in over the border will get all the vaccines they don’t use
