One listing offered eBay customers an “Authentic CDC Vaccination Record Card” for $10.99. Another promised the same but for $9.49. A third was more oblique, offering a “Clear Pouch For CDC Vaccination Record Card” for $8.99, but customers instead received a blank vaccination card (and no pouch).

All three listings were posted by the same eBay user, who goes by “asianjackson” — using an account registered to a man who works as a pharmacist in the Chicago area — and all were illegal, federal regulators say. The account sold more than 100 blank vaccination cards in the past two weeks, according to The Washington Post’s review of purchases linked to it.

The listings are a “perfect example” of burgeoning scams involving coronavirus vaccination cards that could undermine people’s safety, as well as the success of the nation’s largest mass vaccination effort, said North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein. Individuals might use them to misrepresent their vaccination status at school, work or in various living and travel situations, potentially exposing others to risk.

Stein, who led a recent effort with 47 colleagues demanding that eBay and other e-commerce platforms crack down on the scams, pointed to the FBI’s warning that anyone who makes or buys a fake vaccine card is breaking the law, and said he would consider prosecution, too.

so you are going to make written certifications and present a driver's license, passport and a fraudulent vaccine card to the federal officials at embarkation and debarkation. Meanwhile you are required to present drivers license or other documentation to be recorded in federal database which would establish conclusively whether that persons actually got the vaccine at the location, date listed on the vaccination card.

What happens if there is a Covid outbreak. The CDC will need to track down to confirm the person was vaccinated. This would be a very easy criminal violation to prove and its a 5 year felony

44. Anyone can print a card. At least in Oregon, the state is tracking

each vaccine. If a duplicate shows up, the system will catch it. If a phony lot number shows up, and the other number, I can't remember off the top of my head what my card says, but the system will catch it. I get the anti vax folks are pushing the vax cards are no good, but each vax that goes into an arm, is recorded with the state and, if a person has one, their primary doc.

Why aren’t the card issued with theme then the barcode it loaded into a data base?

When I get my blood tests, everything is barcode so there is no confusion.

11. My card doesn't have that neon sticker (give away). Plus in Indiana - after the second shot

while in the waiting area (15 minutes to make sure no reaction after the shot) I received notification/documentation from the state dept of health to document that I have received the vaccine. If other states do this as well - folks using the fake cards could be rooted out by not having the electronic documentation.

Throw the book at the fraudsters selling, and at the fraudsters using/deceiving those around them that they are "safe" due to (not) having been vaccinated.

I didn't know the electronic certificate was coming - until it hit my phone.

Side note - the legislature (extremely radical) is busy undoing the repub. Governor's emergency power. That they haven't objected to or stopped this (cause - *gasp* could be like a "passport" ), suggests that most of them either haven't gotten vaccinated and thus don't know about it - or they are vaccinated and relieved but playing vaxholes as a dangerous performative game.

being in the database? If you actually got a shot, basic information was entered into a database at the time you got it. If you have a card from eBay there will be no corresponding info in the database. Good luck with that cross-check.

My card has J&J Lot # xxxxx, the date and location of my vaccination as well as my name. Is there any way to actually connect my name with my vaccination? I would hope so. But there would need to be a central data base, and I'm guessing there simply isn't one out there.

All of us who have completed our vaccinations - we are safe from these assholes. Make no mistake - they ARE assholes. But the system was in place to help them, and they refused our help. They laughed in our faces and refused to wear masks, etc.

Now they are saying "Look at our FAKE vaccination cards. We're just as good as you are." But they aren't because the Coronavirus will find them and infect them. Maybe they will die, or maybe they'll survive. I don't really care. Maybe they will infect their loved ones.

I scheduled mine on my Kroger app within seconds.. I went straight to the pharmacy two days later, checked in, and waited about 3 minutes, and I am vaccinated. I used my 15 minute waiting period to pick up a couple of grocery items. The entire process was effortless and Mississippi, of course, made it on the list of the least vaccinated states. It's pathetic.
