Biden should declare a national emergency on gun violence

Trump declared one for his stupid "border wall crisis," President Biden should declare gun violence a national emergency and force Congress to address the issue. Considering the number of mass shootings in the last 7 days this has become as big a threat to America's health and safety as Covid and climate change.

Some things will never change. Just something you have to live with in America. You never know when you might be a victim of gun violence.

Thinking that President Biden can do anything significant, will only get you more disappointed.

It is who we are as a country, and always will be. It didn't stop when 21 1st graders were killed. It didn't stop when 61 concert goers in Vegas were killed. It's certainly not going to stop over a few mass shootings over a few weeks.

And everyone else, to the source(s) for this information? I'm doing a research project on gun violence state by state and would like to check this out.

What do you think we should do after such a declaration by the president? It's certainly a heavy lift.

Thanks, in advance.

benefit from diagnosis and treatment and there's no reason to allow them access to
firearms. It's a people problem, people!

you can't control people unless you want to live in some authoritarian state.

And many of these shootings are not due to mental illness.

Declaring a national emergency is not some magic act that will make all obstacles disappear. You still have to get legislation through the Senate and the president doesn’t even have the Democratic votes he needs.
