Covid sucked. Still struggling with some effects
First moderna high temps chills for twenty four hours
Second Moderna Sunday morning, moderate temp, body aches, woke up this morning temp is gone.
I am through the worst of it. But man what a mind fuck. The anticipation of getting sick is almost as bad. But, I bucked up and got it done.
Get yours.

(86,323 posts)And the vaccination part too! I got my second Moderna shot last Friday. I am thankful I managed to dodge getting the virus so far.

(8,907 posts)No side affects except sore arm on Sunday where the shot was administered.
1st shot I got a headache within the hour, but gone by next morning and a sore arm for 3 days.
For the second shot, one of the volunteers asked if I had ever fainted after a shot,
I responded with "Only with whiskey or tequilla."
He stared at me for a second, then started laughing.

(57,073 posts)I've read that over 40% of those who were still struggling with after effects were better after both vaccines!
I just read one article that gave current doctors' thinking on why this occurs. Can't find it & am in abit of a hurry this morning, but here is one:

I sure hope you find relief!

(5,004 posts)I was never tested because it was hard to get tests at first. I continued to have issues for many months. Once I finally made it to the dr she had me get all kinds of tests done but could not find a reason for my continued digestive issues. I have noticed that my issues have pretty much disappeared (say 98-99% recovered) since I had my two Pfizer shots. No longer taking meds. So thankful to feel pretty much back to normal now.

(57,073 posts)So sorry to hear you suffered so much.
I could be remembering wrong, but for long haulers with digestive issues, I think the article might have said docs' current thinking is that there might have been parts of virus hanging on that vaxes take care of.
Sorry, not a med professional, can't recall terms.

(44,972 posts)Firs moderna, mildly sore arm.
Second moderna, a bit more side effects, but they went away after a day and a half.

(26,248 posts)He said it was only slightly less horrific than when he had Covid, early last year. He was about 3 days recovering. The 2nd jab after effects, although still pretty harsh, passed within about 24 hours. He said that even if the same thing will happen after a booster, he won't be deterred from getting one.
I pretty much skated through the whole Pfizer process. A dull, 2 day headache that might or might not have been an after effect from the 2nd jab. I'll be first in line for a booster.

He had very similar reactions to both doses.
Glad you got it done!

(28,834 posts)I got both Modernas also, but a very sore arm the first
time, and a very sore arm and slight sluggishness and
a low fever the second time.
It was all much better two days later. Now nothing,
just relief.
I hear Moderna is planning boosters as well. I think we
got a good one!

(23,218 posts)We're vaccinated here and had Covid twice prior to being vaccinated. We're also dealing with some long-term effects.
Hang in there, I hope we all heal in time, the body is quite resilient.

(54,276 posts)Got Moderna I April 12th, Moderna II scheduled for May 10. Back to Germany on the 15th, by which time we hope any side effects will be gone.

(25,816 posts)I know you were coming anyway, but like I mentioned before, I thought Germany would be
a leader in immunizations. Is Moderna or Pfizer available in Europe? I wouldn't worry about side
effects--I had both Moderna shots and was not fazed in the least. Jeannie had aches and chills
for two days after #2.

(54,276 posts)Their bureaucratic solution to everything (i.e. do nothing) didn't prove very helpful in this instance. The Germans DO like their rules, and they love enforcing them, but don't confuse bureaucratic inertia with efficiency. Like the "everything is free in Europe" myth: it ain't necessarily so.
Germany offers, when it offers any vaccine at all, Astra-Zeneca, Pfizer or Moderna. A few people have gone to Russia to get Sputnik, but since the people who have verified the effectiveness of Sputnik tend to be Russian spokespeople paid (and ordered) to do and say nothing else, only a few have actually done that. A good friend of ours who was West German Radio (WDR) News Moscow Bureau Chief for five years says Sputnik is the last thing he'd get if Putin's government recommended it. He loves Russia, has a Russian girlfriend, speaks Russian, and knows the place really well--which is why he doesn't trust Putin on ANYTHING. Germans in general have been S.O.L. when it comes to getting vaccinated. The government of our State proudly announced, just before we left for Dallas, that they had lowered the age of residents eligible for vaccination all the way down to 79! Biden just announced that it was, what, age 16 for the whole USA? Not so weird that we got it done here!

(5,644 posts)All the ads on my phone are personalized and I get coupons for stores as I drive near them! My wife has stopped constantly asking where I went today. My tinnitus had been replaced by soft affirmations. My windows PC started doing exactly what I want it to. But best of all I'm no longer terrorized by friends who keep their televisions on Fox News all day because all I see on them now is grey static.
