So, we're supposed to compromise . . .

Just a few things that law abiding citizens have opposed and the reasons for opposing them.

After Tim McVeigh blew up the Federal building in Oklahoma the ATF suggested adding identifying 'taggants' to gunpowder and other explosives so terror attacks could be traced back to the purchase. The gun lobby objected on two grounds; it would degrade the quality of gun powder for re-loaders (it wouldn't) and it was an intrusion into privacy and THEY'D COME AND TAKE OUR GUNS (and I won't obey it anyway).

Expanded background checks on gun sales (it would keep Dads from giving their gunz to family members [only if they are felons or otherwise prohibited] and I won't obey it anyway).

Adding an identifier to firing pins on gunz so empty casings could be traced to an individual firearm like the rifling in barrels does for the bullets taken from victims (costs too much and I won't obey it anyway).

Reporting lost or stolen firearms (it's an invasion of privacy, it might incriminate the gunner who can't control the whereabouts of his gunz and I won't obey it anyway).

Requiring guns be secured in the home when not on your person (must have instantaneous access in case THEY come for me and I won't obey it anyway).

Registration of the most lethal weapons – assault weapons - (2nd Amendment!1!!1 [not in there] and THEY will come and take our gunz [only if you become a felon] besides I won't obey it anyway).

Red Flag laws (THEY will lie just to take my gunz, confiscation 1!1!!, and I won't obey it anyway).

Taxes on guns & ammo (2nd amendment1!111 [not in there], punishing a constitutional right [it's a use tax], too expensive [really? So is the $280 billion we pay to treat gun victims every year] and I won't obey it anyway).

Requiring insurance to pay for gun violence (Ain't nobody gonna' insure that [point set match] and I won't obey it anyway anyway).

Seizing guns from people convicted of battering wives or dates (whut? I kain't beat the shit outa' her on the first date and besides the bitch would just lie to take my gunz away and I wouldn't obey it anyway).

License to own with training and insurance requirements (do I really need to repeat?)

These are the gun people we have coddled for 50 years like they might compromise and meet us in the middle. Fuck 'em and the Colt they rode in on.

It's time grownups take over.

1. These are all excellent things we can do, and should have done, long since.

I could not agree more with your last sentence: It's time the grownups took over.

Some of them do fuck their 9 mm weapons. Lube up the muzzle opening and insert away. Although 9 mm is a loose fit for them

4. Please tell me who to compromise with. We've down that road and it's a dead end.

How do you compromise with a brick wall?

By the numbers:
less than a third of households have a gun.
less than a third of them own more than 5 guns.
within rounding estimates that's 10% of the eligible voters.

Why should 90% bow and scrape to 10% (or less) of those who oppose ANY reform? We have coddled and tried to placate this tiny minority for 50 years.

Explain to me why or even how a compromise is possible to PASS ANYTHING.
