Pastor Todd Coconato, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, believes the former president may return to the Oval Office, in part, because God is in control of America's leadership.
Coconato, president of the Religious Liberties Coalition, regularly speaks out about the "stolen" election and has pushed people not to give up praying for change. During a now-deleted live stream posted to YouTube on Wednesday, Coconato acknowledged that Joe Biden was president, but said he believes Trump will serve another term.
"People say, 'Well, you still think President Trump might become president again?'" Coconato said during Wednesday's live stream. "I do, because I prayed about it, and I'll tell you what God said to me was kind of shocking."
Coconato prayed, he said, about whether Trump would ever return to the Oval Office, and God reminded him "he's the one that chooses the leadership, not us." God, he said, allows "certain things to happen, but he also responds to the prayers of the righteous."

(6,173 posts)and imply that God is in favor of Trump returning to the Oval Office in 2024.
I don't think it's God he's hearing. My guess is that a dark entity is playing him; probably because he's one himself.
I am also amazed that people who consistently put forth a philosophy of fear, anger, hatred, and violence believe that they are "righteous".
People who follow a path of love never have to talk about being righteous.
It's only those who are trying to sell the idea that they know God who do this.
Ultimately, they don't know God at all.
Also, this is a free will zone. God doesn't choose our leaders, we do. We can pray for guidance, but it will always be our choice to do whatever we do in life.
If God made the choices, where would our spiritual growth be? Even in the most difficult situations, we decide how we will handle it.
The challenge with Trump, and the darkness he represents, is to choose whether we want to embrace darkness, or rise above it and live in the light of God's love.
I don't think I need to tell you which side of that equation Trump is on. By his actions you can certainly know him.

(7,432 posts)And why not? A whole lot of evangelicals believe that it's one in the same. And it's all about glorifying authoritarianism.
Anyone who believes that they have a direct line of communications with "God" is either psychotic or a con artist, neither of which are desirable characteristics. Further proof that Coconato is either of these, or both, rests with the Bible-originated directive to keep separate the matters of church and state. Coconato should examine whether he's committing one of the most notable sins discussed in the New Testament: the sin of pride. It takes a lot of arrogance to believe that God is communicating directly with you.

(15,381 posts)The majority of them prophesied Trump remaining president (oops), and the vast majority of them are now pushing conspiracy theories that once all the truth comes out about the voter fraud and yada yada yada, Trump will be reinstalled and retake the presidency from Biden this year.
A few of them have set up "outs" for themselves. Robin Bullock has now said that Trump has to want to come back, which I thought wasn't smart as that puts the blame on Trump. A minor YouTuber who is not a minister but thinks he has something unique to share claims to have had a dream where Trump would not come out to speak at an event until enough people got over to the "right/correct" side of the audience implying Trump won't come back if enough people don't come to God. THAT's clever in my opinion. When his prophecies fail a second time (he said Trump would remain in office, democrats and John Roberts would be arrested, and the military would have a hand in it), he can blame everyone but Trump and himself for getting it wrong.
