Stop talking about the possibility of coronavirus booster shots. Dont bully people who are vaccine holdouts. And if youre trying to win over skeptics, show us anyone besides Dr. Fauci.
Thats what a focus group of vaccine-hesitant Trump voters urged politicians and pollsters during the weekend, as public health officials work to understand potential roadblocks in the campaign to inoculate Americans against the coronavirus. Among the most pressing questions are why so many GOP voters remain opposed to the shots and whether the recent decision to pause Johnson & Johnson vaccinations was a factor.
Although more than half of U.S. adults have received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, more than 40 percent of Republicans have consistently told pollsters theyre not planning to be vaccinated a group that could threaten efforts to tamp down the viruss spread, public health officials fear.
Many vaccine-hesitant Americans are increasingly entrenched in their decisions to resist the shots, said Frank Luntz, a longtime GOP communications expert who convened Sundays focus group over Zoom.

(2,279 posts)They don't get vaccinated, get covid,. More covid around, more chance for covid to mutate to something my vaccine won't help with

(7,275 posts)but, as discussed at the link I posted, there's reason to believe that the mRNA vaccines will continue to be superior to natural immunity and to protect from many mutations in the spike protein. There are only so many viable mutations for the virus, and so far, the mRNA vaccines are handling them well, because of how the antigen is presented to the immune system--meaning, the immune response is more diverse.
Optimally, of course, *everyone* (who can) would be vaccinated, but we know that's not going to happen. So, this is my optimistic spin on that tragic fact, and one that gives me some hope.

I don't care if they throw a temper tantrum, their attitude is not worth sacrificing one more life

(100,042 posts)Last thing we want is for the virus to mutate and then we're back to ground zero. Look at what's happening in India right now - it's absolutely horrifying. Seriously take it. If I can do it, anyone can do it. It's not that hard.

(7,510 posts)The anti-vaxxers are impressed by the number and variety of people making videos on social media, while the main stream media uses the same few spokesmen over and over.
This is taken as proof that there is wide support for the suppressed ideas of many experts, while the MSM is under the control of the cabal.
The MSM media should use a very wide variety of experts. I'm sure they could find enough qualified experts so that they could go a long time without repeating.

I wish there was a way to know who it is who did not vaccinate. I am 2 months out from my second Pfizer so I feel pretty good about things but still mask and distance.
I cannot imagine this level of not understanding the implications of what they are doing nor understanding that long time medical technology cannot be used for Bill Gates to put a tracker on you. My god, the level of lack here is outstanding.

(15,152 posts)...that will spoil being safely vaccinated for the rest of us, I almost wouldn't care. But there are a few not-their-fault immune-compromised people out there who can't take vaccines who they put at risk too, and children of idiots like this who can't protect themselves from their parents' stupidity and brainwashing, so we have to worry about them too.
