Remember: Former AG Barr would not let Chauvin plead guilty

From what I remember, 3 days after he murdered George, Chauvin wanted to plead guilty and Barr said no.

Just think, we could have avoided the riot in Minneapolis and this trial.

No one is willing to put their name up? And no explanation why the US AG would have anything to do wit ha state crime.

Chauvin had asked to serve his time in a federal prison, and the deal was contingent on the federal government's approval because Chauvin wanted assurance he would not face federal civil rights charges, the Times reported.

Chauvin was demanding something, and that is totally different.

I hate Bill Barr as much as the next person, but all Barr did was refuse to sign away the DOJ's ability to prosecute Chauvin. Which was the right thing to do, probably.

Chauvin was willing to plead guilty and serve at least 10 years, in exchange for ending the risk of subsequent litigation. That's pretty standard. Barr refused to go along with it.

The bargaining was around claims arising out of George Floyd's murder.

What made him or his lawyers think they were in any position to dictate terms?
