From a thread regarding the Georgia Floyd guilty thread. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with someone about this? I remain respectful as always, I just want some guidance from someone in authority about this, and I cant find anyone. Many thanks.

(38,410 posts)Whenever a post is removed, you have the opportunity to appeal.
Although your profile says that none of your posts have been removed. Are you sure you hit post?

It's not a big deal unless you get like 3 of them removed (depending on the reason, can be less for real bad stuff).

(7,715 posts)You're usually dead on with your posts! However, on this one, I have to say the Admins have been great. I have had 2 posts removed by the jury during my time formally on DU (about 4.5 years). In both instances, I appealed to the Admins: the first one was reinstated in a matter of minutes and the second one was reinstated after the weekend in which the ban occurred.
I am a HUGE fan of DU's moderation, from the jury, forum moderators, the MIR team (I've served a few tours of duty), and/or appeals (to Admins or moderators). I am increasingly impressed with DU's moderation system, which I think is really sophisticated and fair, and keeps our discussions on track.
I'm not a suck-up, but I'm just impressed!

And sometimes my attempts at humor are apparently not quite obvious ENOUGH for some.
Also, I might be drunk sometimes
Our moderation here is great, I've had just a couple of removals I'm still bitter about over the many years

(26,111 posts)Appealed twice and never heard a thing in response. Stopped appealing.
Recently, I posted a joke wherein Donald Trump was the punchline, but it also made mention of Bill Clinton in rather derogatory manner. I figured DUers would see past that because Trump was the butt of the joke. Nope. Someone cried foul and the post was removed for bashing a Democratic figure.
If you are thinking, "Well, those are the rules, move on," I suppose that would have been easier to do if I hadn't checked what was trending on DU several hours later and saw that the very same joke was reposted by another forum member and it had 40-some likes and was moving up the ranks briskly.
Anyway, I have only had a handful of posts removed over almost 5 years on the site and I just tend to shrug it off now.

(19,299 posts)I do see that you have replies in a thread in which a post has been removed. If that's the case then you have nothing to be concerned about.

Its pretty hard to get posts removed with the jury system in place. Not sure what you posted, but you may want to think about it so you can contribute to the discourse in a constructive way.

(15,909 posts)...which is fortunately very limited, is that appeals are either granted (never for me), or met with stony silence.
Apparently no one will bother to discuss why they thought a post should have been removed. You either get your post back, or you feel like you might as well be talking to a brick wall.
Other posters claim to have had better experience with the system, but they're all the "big names" on DU, so apparently the most popular posters get better treatment.
