Anti-Anti-Chauvinism - The Bulwark

https://thebulwark.com/anti-anti-chauvinism/

We all saw it. It was captured on video. It lasted nine interminable minutes. It ignited our righteous indignation—an oil fire floating on an ocean of grief.

Most people felt this way about the video of the murder—yes, murder—of George Floyd last year. The officer responsible, Derek Chauvin, was convicted of three counts on Tuesday for snuffing out a man’s life over the course of those nine excruciating minutes.

Some observers, though, seem less concerned about the murder of George Floyd and more concerned about—well, it’s hard to say what they are concerned about. Some of them are claiming that the trial was a set-up. Rigged. That the jury had it in for Chauvin. Or that Chauvin didn’t really matter because the real villains were Joe Biden and Maxine Waters and Don Lemon, who somehow managed to pressure the jury into convicting Chauvin on all counts. Probably because they were afraid of cancel culture.

with anyone having to be responsible for their actions. Most police officers have been acquitted of their crimes, as have most republicans. Having to pay a price for their illegal actions is quite foreign to them, and they don't like it. Being responsible for one's actions is something only the little people should worry about, not police officers and republicans. Sorry, republicans. The majority of people in this country feel differently, and a new day has dawned. Better watch your step from here on. You might be the next one to pay the consequences for your actions.

They are the "good" people and are entitled to a mulligan (if they admit that anything wrong was even done), to not being held to the same standards that they would hold the "other" people.

The Republicans are truly the wannabe elitists. They live in "God's Country", not the "shithole" or "armpit" urban areas.

Because Right Wing Propagandists on Newsy Outrage & Fear Entertainment saw the evidence the prosecution put up, and heard the same bullshit spaghetti defense we did.

My favorite is they intimidated the jury before the trial started, yet we've not heard a peep about that until they verdict came back guilty.

More oddly, shouldn't everyone be praying for a right decision, since the evidence was overwhelming?

Willful blindness because they are nakedly racist now.
