Philadelphia Flyers launch "Take your shot!" vaccination campaign

https://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2021/04/20/covid-vaccine-take-your-shot-philadelphia-flyers-gritty/?_gl=1*9kepfg*_ga*WlpzaFZXcDR6TFU3YWtHUzVqLThDbFNCR1FUbTJPdDM4VExoWUdtOGR6b3k4bEpRakdUV05EdjdzVWkyNXVWYw..

"The Philadelphia Flyers are throwing their sticks into the ring by helping people get their COVID-19 vaccinations, and even Gritty is getting in on the action.

“I think what we’re seeing is the people most interested in the vaccine have stepped up and gotten it,” Penn Medicine CMO Dr. P.J. Brennan said. Brennan says the hard part is now overcoming vaccine hesitancy.
.....
The Flyers say they were approached by Gov. Tom Wolf and Mayor Jim Kenney to leverage their platform in the community to help get more people vaccinated. In doing so, the Take Your Shot campaign was launched.
.....
“We’ll run that on TV and on social media to broadcast that out as widely as possible,” Camillo said. “And we’ll also be targeting communities of color as well.”

The inequality of distribution is at the heart of this campaign, they say, working closely with Penn Medicine and the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium to ensure no one is left out.

The video features Flyers players, head coach Alain Vigneault, local doctors and, of course, Gritty, with its own sticker. Players and his-Grittness will also be present at vaccination sites."...(more)

and make it socially desirable for those of their fans who may be vaccine-hesitant. Country Music star Brad Paisley has a similar PSA in which he points out that the sooner everyone is vaccinated, the sooner we can all get back to attending concerts (including his!), going to sports events, and generally enjoying life again. The more high profile athletic and entertainment figures who get on board, the better. You would think people would listen to Dr. Fauci and other medical authorities instead of celebrities, but maybe some are reachable this way instead.

You'd think not wanting to get sick and/or die would be at the top of most people's list. But because of bullshit disinformation on social media, people's opinions have been flipped on the subject and it's now up for debate. And it makes things worse in the middle of a raging pandemic because it gives the virus new chances to mutate and make itself even stronger, which would make our chances of getting out of this thing go back to zero.

I would think ending the pandemic would also be at the top of everyone's lists, but as we've seen in the last year, there's a lot of stupid fucking people in this world.
