I hope this sinks in for all the cops in America to reform their methods and attitudes.
He will spend 23 hours a day in this cell, alone.

(4,170 posts)And writing materials. Even if no tv. To leave someone without anything to do mentally is cruel and unusual and has been shown to be so. Surprised to read this here.

(149,754 posts)Reading materials are entirely in a different category.

(4,170 posts)I think Id probably consider just stick my head in the toilet if I were to be left without reading or writing materials. That would be hell to me. TV is not necessary to anyone, imo.

(2,736 posts)But....Hell, even SUPERMAX in Co. has a black and white tv in each cell.
Lack of any stimulation really is cruel.
Hes cruel....we shouldnt be.

They have these horrible polices and fees because people like him love seeing POC treated badly, so too bad.

(25,816 posts)He's lucky to have a cell to himself with what looks like a shower.
I was in lockdown once for only two days, with three different roomies and no shower.
You use to the toilet in front of the other guy. the food sucks, no books, no smokes, no TV, radio, no
nothing. Even the window was so small, maybe 4x12 inches, and it looked out on a block wall.
Worst two days and nights ever. However, weed is now legal in Az.

(146,341 posts)That's what sucks. That cell is a temporary holding cell. He will be in there, under guard, until his sentencing. Then, he will be assigned to one of Minnesota's state prisons. The one he is in right now is the only maximum security state prison in Minnesota. He may end up there, or he may end up in a medium security facility.
However, he is going to be isolated from the rest of the prison population for his own safety. His life is going to be unpleasant, to be sure, but he is alive. George Floyd is not.
Think about it.

(2,736 posts)Hes an animal. Were not.
Having no stimulation is cruel. He will not be able to realize how what he did was wrong.
MineralMan
(146,341 posts)That is all want. The rest is irrelevant for me.

(146,341 posts)"He is an animal." His treatment is cruel?
Think about what you are writing, please.

(2,736 posts)He is an animal...he murdered a human being...in cold blood, afaic.
He deserves to be removed from society for a long time...how long is not up to me.
i do not believe solitary is cruel .
I believe in physical or mental punishment is cruel.
lack of any mental/cerebral stimulation is cruel in my opinion.
He is an animal.... we should not be one.

(146,341 posts)Seriously, that's what prison is like. It's not a motel room.
