https://local12.com/news/local/13-year-old-girl-stabbed-to-death-in-winton-hills-cincinnati-nyaira-givens-pageCincinnati police reported Tuesday about a horrific murder of a 13-year-old girl who was stabbed to death by another 13-year-old girl during an argument in their Winton Hills neighborhood. The deadly stabbing occurred Monday, the night before Black teen girl MaKhia Bryant was shot to death by police in Columbus, Ohio as she tried to stab another teen girl. Unfortunately for the girl in Cincinnati, there were no police officers present to save her life as happened in Columbus.

(34,929 posts)Used to be a local story like this never got to the national news.
Absent social media like DU, would it?

(18,486 posts)Because the girl wasn't killed by someone acting under the power of the government and the color of law and the perpetrator was immediately arrested, charged and is in jail, will be tried for murder and will likely be convicted and serve a long prison sentence - and all of that was done without people having to march in the streets and listen to swarms of the killer's apologists telling us he was justified in killing her and she caused her own death.
That's why.

(46,247 posts)The perpetrator is also 13. Chances of long prison sentence seem slim to none.

(18,486 posts)But if that's the case, that's because that's how the law works, not because prosecutors decided to go easy on them or even refused to prosecute them at all
My point stands.

(18,486 posts)DU doesn't normally have a lot of discussion about local crimes involving unknown civilians in which the perpetrator was immediately arrested and charged.
So, what's the point of this OP?

(4,170 posts)Black people are killing other black people more than anyone else kills black people. Is that not true? According to the black police chiefs and mayors in many, many towns and cities with this problem, that is what is happening.
StarfishSaver
(18,486 posts)And most crime is same race on same race. White on white crime is a much more serious problem in America, but I doubt you respond to any discussion about government overreach with cries of "What about WHITE ON WHITE CRIME?!"
Black on Black crime - or as non-racists call it "crime" - is irrelevant to the issue of the disproportionate killings of Black people by law enforcement.

(25,994 posts)If this is preferable to what happened in the Ma'Khia Bryant case, then fine. But at least be honest about it.

Some people feel "justified" is all that is needed instead of right, moral or necessary in regards to cops killing Americans.
