Dear @MikeLoychik: Thank you for your service in the Air Force. Also, the founders never intended for the Air Force. The Constitution only refers to land and naval forces.
responding to rep mike loychik's tweet: The founders never intended for Washington DC to become a state.

(29,199 posts)I am dead certain that some speech writer tried to reference "ramparts" in the speech from our national anthem...
He stuck the reference in the speech.
Trump saw it... didn't know the word, didn't know our national anthem, got angry because someone misspelled Airport... decided to change to be "correct" without even relating the absurd idea of airports in 1776... and spoke what "he knew".

P.S. I agree about the IQ thing, too. Up till Chump, I'd have said Dubya was the dumbest, but Chump's got even him beat on that score..

(34,105 posts)in my long long life I would kill for a representative that was smart and good like this. There have been a few D's when I was growing up but so rare in my adulthood that I would have to look it up and see who. Nancy Boyda, well..........
Thank you other states for having the good sense to elect people who are smart. California, you have 2 of my very favorites. Ted Lieu and Eric Swalwell. You have others too but those guys just make me happy knowing they are out there and there is a state that had the good sense to elect them. I am glad they are not shy.
**edit** I meant representative meaning both senators and congress persons.

(34,105 posts)it helps the rest of us as we try as hard as we can to elect someone who has not either tried to run someone over with their truck (Marshall) or is not such a wack job (Brownback and oh soooo many others) that nothing makes sense anymore.
At least my county has become blue, at least for president. Still, all my Reps in both houses, in both state and federal are big bad, stupid R's.
I think in my life I have had one Congresswoman who was a D and she was only for one term.
I think from the time I was born until now, 67 years, there have been only 3 Dem Senators from my district. I got depressed and did not recheck the numbers. LOL It matters not, they are rare.
It amazes me because we have had some horrid people who did horrid things, now is going to be the worst ever, it has never felt hard to live here.

(8,810 posts)The intelligence of many house members and senators appalls me.
I hear these politicians talk, and it is painfully obvious they are severely lacking any knowledge of civics what so ever,
AND
when talking about the pandemic and covid, most could not pass a Jr. High Science test.....seriously.
Many of those assholes would like nothing better than voters having to pass a test.......that is FRICKKING hilarious.
How about, as a start, them having to at least pass the test that the immigrants have to pass to become citizens, on the U.S. government and constitution to be allowed to run for office........
I was in a small bunch of red neck bubba blue collars. One was ragging on a particular female supreme court justice. When he finished, I asked him if he could even tell me how many Supreme Court Justices there are, much less name them?????.....I couldn't help it, it just came out of my mouth....
Never before, have we ever witnessed the numbers of politically ignorant that are occupying this nation...........and that is particularly applicable to our politicians..........

So why didn't Ben Franklin have the Air Force and Space Force add to the Constitution?
He was flying kites so he should have known mankind would leave the ground at some point.
Really the strict constructionists are going to have to practice turning into a pretzel to explain these ommissions.

Oh, and we have idiot Jerry Moran and moron Roger Marshall "representing" us in the US Senate.
Did I mention that I hate, hate, hate Republicans?
