1) That was essentially 22 years after he resigned in disgrace...
2) I do NOT want to wait until 2042 for Trump to die off.
3) I'm not sure the bottle of champagne I have in reserve for the occasion will stay that long! (LOL)

Does anyone else recall an comedy album from the Watergate era that featured the "Shredder Monster"?
It was a riff on the Cookie Monster, but instead of Cookies, Shredder monster wanted the White House tapes?

"Tapes, tapes....me want tapes..."

The punchline at the end was "Shit. Shit. Big Dick (Nixon) is full of SHIT!"
For whatever reason, THAT is the overwhelming thing that pops into my mind every time someone mentions Nixon...

He seems very healthy, and he could still be around another 30 years, maybe more.
I certainly hope he does.

In my life, the Republican presidents have been:

Eisenhower
Nixon
Reagan
G.H.W. Bush
G.W. Bush
Trump

It's remarkable that with the exception of Bush I, (an outlier for many reasons), the Republicans went from a fairly good president to the worst president in our history. Each step of the way brought a worse person to the job. Just extraordinary.

It's been mentioned many times here on DU and elsewhere: if Eisenhower were alive today there's no way he'd be considered a Republican. I can't believe he'd even want to join the current version of the Repuke Party. But if he did try they would never allow him in.

Nixon's era was a bumpy ride

And the potholes got even worse with Reagan

By W's time, the shoulders and guardrails were disappearing

The fuckin road started to wash out with that last guy
