Please, please, please, Democrats---understand this:

Senator Tim Scott, with whom you are now "negotiating" about a policing reform bill is a Trump ass-kisser who will soon be only too happy to lie through his teeth about what Biden's Congressional Address REALLY means. The Trump party will applaud and cheer loudly.

He still supports his pus-bag "president" and is enthusiastically endorsed by him.

His goal is not a responsible bill that will benefit the nation. His goal is to delay such a bill and then whittle away as much of it as possible before a watered-down reform-in-name-only bill can pass both houses.

When dealing with him and others like him, take NOTHIING for granted and, if he shakes your hand, count your fingers afterward.

How should they behave toward others they see every day in the workplace? People assigned to the same projects but there to sabotage instead of serve? Having to deal with their constant insults, slanders, trickery and general ugly spite and malice? Having to lock their doors and never leave their papers or computers unguarded because they will steal it and then lie about what they find?

Fun work environment.

They're not naive.

But working with him sends the right message.

And it's remotely possible we may be able to get a substantial portion of what we want through the Senate with his help.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if Tim Scott ends up with egg all over his face and a painful lesson in just what his Republican colleagues think of him - when he is unable to get any of them to vote for the package he negotiates.

The four years that followed saw an army of trump ass-kissers being installed and entrenched in government. This will take years to undo. In the mean time, dealing with trump ass-kissers is an unavoidable political necessity. Democrats are painfully aware of this.

so we won't notice they are steadily funneling money from our treasury to billionaires and corporations.

As long as they can create this division, and keep whole segments of the population in ignorant-bubble-AM-talk-radio land, they are in business.

The message of your OP is right on. Definitely want to count your fingers (more good hyperbole) after dealing with any one of these Republican Trumpists.

Scott may or may not have a conscience. However, I admire Karen Bass and Cory Booker for doing everything humanly possible to enact meaningful, and long overdue legislation. They've been in DC long enough to understand exactly who they're dealing with and I trust their judgment.
