(10,885 posts)8. It's of course illegal for 13 year olds to buy guns
... so laws were being broken, not sure how more laws will help if they aren't followed.

(18,883 posts)10. Not necessarily
there are minimum age restrictions for licensed dealers. There are no Federal laws for about what age a non-dealer may sell a long gun. It is left to the states. Seventeen states have no law stating a minimum age to purchase a rifle or shotgun.

I hope this is not a James O'Keefe type of operation by GunReformNow. Otherwise the FBI should be looking into this matter. That transaction should come under the background check rules.

(34,185 posts)12. Its a quirk of VA state law.
The firearm would typically be hunting rifles/shotguns (less than 7 rounds and not a handgun)
The sale has to be a private sale (resident of VA to resident of VA)
I think they keep it that way for youth hunters.
I'm sure there are incidents with such rifles, but I haven't heard of any.

(3,282 posts)13. I've been to a few gun shows in VA
I couldn't find any guns there that I could afford.
Smaller flea markets and such might be different, but the big gun shows bring pretty big price tags in my experience.
