For 3 ex-cops, will blaming Chauvin for Floyd's death work?

As the three weigh their strategies, legal experts say they are sure to be watching what kind of prison time Chauvin gets at his June 16 sentencing. Minnesota law sets the same penalties for aiding and abetting murder or manslaughter as for the act itself.

7. They'll justify killing one teenaged black girl to save another girl's life, but won't stop another

cop while he's busy murdering a hancuffed black man for 9:29. Must be that "thin blue line" we keep hearing about.

and making sure no one can get in there and knock him out is part of the crime. I think it is. If there weren't the other cops with their guns, very likely someone could have intervened more decisively.

9. That is why bank robbers usually have a team. One person taking the money out of the safe.

The others holding the bank patrons and staff at bay with guns.

could have looked at that situation and seen it was wrong.

They made a choice. Each of them chose to do nothing when, in fact, they could have acted.

defense. Not saying I agree with it and they should be held accountable for their actions and failure to act. I was just pointing out how the defense will use the authority figure defense.

Note this was successful in Arizona where the LEO in charge basically gave the order to shoot an unarmed man, and the shooter who killed Daniel Shaver walked (he even got to come back later and finish up some more time to get a better pension).

Four months after the shooting, Charles Langley, the officer who gave orders to Shaver, retired from the department. By December 2017, Langley had emigrated to the Philippines.

I honestly don't expect to see any of them face any significant penalty.

And they not only refused to do so, but refused to let anyone else do so. GUILTY.

15. Jim Lane stands the best chance at getting off. Only on the job 4 days

And he twice asked Chauvin whether they needed to get Floyd on his side to help him breathe.

Chauvin was training Lane as a newbie just out of school so he had very little authority.

If he does get off, I hope he never gets another cop job but who the fuck knows anymore

Including his father iirc so if there were any motives other than racism, Chauvin would have definitely been seeking to impress Lane
