(7,947 posts)and making sure no one can get in there and knock him out is part of the crime. I think it is. If there weren't the other cops with their guns, very likely someone could have intervened more decisively.

They made a choice. Each of them chose to do nothing when, in fact, they could have acted.

(17,862 posts)defense. Not saying I agree with it and they should be held accountable for their actions and failure to act. I was just pointing out how the defense will use the authority figure defense.
Note this was successful in Arizona where the LEO in charge basically gave the order to shoot an unarmed man, and the shooter who killed Daniel Shaver walked (he even got to come back later and finish up some more time to get a better pension).

Chauvin was training Lane as a newbie just out of school so he had very little authority.
If he does get off, I hope he never gets another cop job but who the fuck knows anymore
