Before you have a panic attack about gas prices being 70 cents rising since last November, jog your suspect memory back to two years. Gas prices in the Midwest was $2.75, on the Week of April 21st. That is within a dime of what it is today and not only that, it was on its way to $3.00 a gallon. If you could take a few minutes away from kissing your messiah's MAGA ass you probably could have researched this.
I'll say it again. Gas prices rise in the Spring primarily because refineries partially shut down for maintenance before the Summer driving season. But unfortunately that doesn't fit the Right Wing Extremist's narrative.

I remember when diesel was 12 cents a gallon, and gas was 19 cents a gallon.
I saw a "red diesel" check point set up by the State Patrol a few months back........does everyone know about that?????????

(11,563 posts)In US dollars and US gallons, our local price is currently $4.48.
Everything is VERY handy to our house, so my wife and I drive VERY little. Even so, a $50 bill goes so fast, you might as well set fire to it.

(10,303 posts)They'd rather pay US prices for diesel than Canadian ones. But not much choice when the best and shortest route between Detroit and Montreal is along the 401 in Ontario.
I'm English so no sympathy from me either in terms of high "gas" prices. About $6.70 in US dollars per US gallon in London UK right now.
If one really wants low low gas prices move to Venezuela. It's practically free - if you can get it.

(11,563 posts)At that time, there were reports of $7 a gallon in the UK and some parts of Europe. Israel was super-expensive.

(6,589 posts)Billions of barrels A DAY of oil refining capacity went offline when Texas froze, literally 20% of our country's entire capacity. As a result, gas prices went up. There are still billions of barrels of oil sitting in tankers in the Gulf waiting to be refined into gasoline.
And whose fault was that? Who failed to winterize Texas' energy infrastructure?
REPUBLICANS
This is another golden opportunity for Democratic messaging! I see people blaming Biden for higher gas prices... so you're saying it was Biden's responsibility to winterize Texas' oil infrastructure? You don't like the higher gas prices? Well, let's talk about why they're higher.
Again, another golden messaging opportunity that allows us to clarify who is responsible for the decisions that lead to the problem, AND stress the importance of robust infrastructure! We don't get many opportunities like that & it would be a damn shame to let it slip away.
