I'm a 72 year old straight woman. I've had the wonderful good fortune to know many gay men, a few lesbians, and a handful of trans people.

Love is love, regardless of the gender of the people involved.

I recently completed cardiac rehab. One of my fellow rehabbers was a man I suspected was gay, but didn't feel I needed to say anything about it. On my final day, when it was just the two of us in the waiting room, he suddenly started talking about his deceased husband. I honestly feel honored that he opened up to me that way.

I have a joke about the three rules you should pay attention to when getting married.

1. One person at a time.

2. Both of you need to be of legal age.

3. Keep it within the species.

That covers it, I think.

5. Years ago I asked my dad how one of my great aunts was related. Found out she wasn't my actual aunt

she was my great aunts partner so I added her to our family tree and researched her family. I adored both of my g-aunts.

There was plenty of gay couples in history. No need to make them up (Looking your way 2020's Ammonite).

The wish list had included TV shows like Kate and Allie honestly.

That's why the ancient Greeks wrote "B.C." after all their dates, they wanted to make it clear they were here first!
