(25,839 posts)I'm a 72 year old straight woman. I've had the wonderful good fortune to know many gay men, a few lesbians, and a handful of trans people.
Love is love, regardless of the gender of the people involved.
I recently completed cardiac rehab. One of my fellow rehabbers was a man I suspected was gay, but didn't feel I needed to say anything about it. On my final day, when it was just the two of us in the waiting room, he suddenly started talking about his deceased husband. I honestly feel honored that he opened up to me that way.
I have a joke about the three rules you should pay attention to when getting married.
1. One person at a time.
2. Both of you need to be of legal age.
3. Keep it within the species.
That covers it, I think.
