That isn't what really happens

but, SS is dominated by coaches to the point that I have literally never met a SS teacher who was male who wasn't also a coach. I was a double major in college, SS and math, but when I decided to go the teaching route, I realized that I would never be hired for SS since I have neither desire, nor ability, to coach. That said, some coaches are great teachers and others not so much. Both my best and worst SS teachers were coaches (one basketball and one track). The BB coach was one of my best teachers overall while the track coach was near the worst overall. It should be noted the BB coach was my government teacher.
