On Sunday, because news stations have time slots that they have to fill with white men babbling white-men-shit, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul went on Meghan Markle’s television and claimed that Georgia voter laws can’t be racist because Democrats are responsible for Jim Crow.

If you are confused, remember that Rand Paul’s rap name is Jhym Crow and Paul is a goddamn idiot.

During an interview with Republican BangBus, aka Fox News, Paul claimed that he didn’t understand why companies were so upset with the racist Georgian voting laws.

“I’m still having trouble fathoming the hysteria that came from Coca-Cola and Delta and Major League Baseball over the Georgia bill,” Paul explained, Raw Story reports. “We passed virtually the same bill in Kentucky. It was signed by a Democrat governor and it was lauded as actually expanding access because we expanded early voting in the same way they did in Georgia.”

to businesses in 2009 or 2010. He is on video doing so.

2. He is misquided

Technically he is correct because the south was dominated by Democrat politicians during the Jim Crow era and they did enact discrimination laws. They were known as Dixie Crats. But the Democratic party changed and fought against those laws with civil right legislation. Rand Paul like many others on the right ignore the fact these dixie crats switched and now belong to the Republican party.

The Kentucky law is not "virtually the same bill" and he knows it. It may have some of the same changes as the Georgia law but does not restrict voting or local oversight the way Georgia's does. This is how con men work, by creating false conflation between disparate things when the slightest commonality exists. And note the use of the word "hysteria", which is a misogynistic code word.

number of segrationist conservative, Southern Dems. Paul is correct that Democratic politicians created Jim Crow laws. Today, these same people would be Republicans as the parties pretty much have reversed polarities over the past 50-60 years.
