The Pilgrims came here. 1620. Plymouth Colony FAILED and was absorbed my the Massachusetts Bay Colony, a business enterprise in 1691. No one was coming primarily for religious freedom in the 1700s. Nopety, nope, nope.

The colonies were, for the most part, businesses. Pilgrims were long dead in 1776.
