Tennessee CEO fired after he's accused of harassing teenage boy who wore a dress to prom
The man, identified as VisuWell CEO Sam Johnson, denied the allegations and accused the teenager's boyfriend of editing their exchange.

By Matteo Moschella and Doha Madani
A Tennessee executive was fired after he was seen on video appearing to harass a teenage boy who wore a dress to his prom Saturday night, saying the teenager looked like an "idiot."

The student, Dalton Stevens, 18, said Monday that he decided to wear a dress to his senior prom in Franklin, about 20 miles south of Nashville, to show that "clothing is really genderless" and "it has no meaning."

He said he was shocked when an adult began acting "homophobic" as he and his boyfriend, Jacob Geitmann, began taking photos with friends at a hotel before the Franklin High School prom.

Stevens said a man approached the couple and asked whether Stevens knew what he was wearing. The man, who has been identified as VisuWell CEO Sam Johnson, is alleged to have asked why Stevens chose to wear a dress.

"I think I look good in it and that I really like the dress, and I want to show that clothing is genderless," Stevens said he responded. "And I explained that to him, and he continued to just call me names and just follow me."

Stevens alleged that Johnson called him "stupid," as well as vulgar names, in a homophobic manner and that Johnson told him that he has "hair on your chest, you shouldn't be wearing a dress."

The top tweet is pinned to the top of its Twitter site. Apparently the harassment had been going on for a while, with this jerk following the kid around, before recording began.

That is how we change things, I think. Record bigoted behavior and out the bigots publicly to their employers and the public.

Losing a job as a CEO is a wonderful object lesson.

(In a public place where he was recorded) will not be tolerated. The times they are a changing’. Yes, those attitudes still exist and will continue but the days when you could act on your prejudices are slowly fading away. Thank goodness for cell phones and those willing to use them to document what was said and who said it.

P.S. The kids at that school, no doubt, already know their classmate and were ok with with his wearing a dress. He has probably done other things to express his feelings and opinions. So how about the so called adult in this situation just use a little self control and restraint. He paid a mighty big price for a few moments of bigotry and hatefulness.

Franklin police responded to the incident, but Johnson 'denied any involvement in the confrontation', Lieutenant Charles Warner said.

Johnson told Newsweek: 'We had just sat down for dinner at this restaurant that we frequent, and i was returning from the restroom when I was presented with their loud cursing'.

He said he approached the teens to ask them to 'tone down the vulgarities around the families and children who were present.'

'Making it about the dress was their idea and they edited out most of the exchange', he added.

Police requested Johnson settle his bill with the hotel and leave.

Warner said officers would not be investigating the incident unless the couple chose to press charges.
