Murkowski challenger blogged about 'evil' of 'Twilight' movie, book series

Kelly Tshibaka, who late last month announced she would mount a primary challenge against Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R), supported an organization that promoted so-called conversion therapy and also called the "Twilight" book and film series "evil," according to a report by CNN's KFile.

KFile reviewed past articles and blog posts written by Tshibaka, who resigned from her role as Alaska Department of Administration commissioner to launch her Senate campaign.

In a 2009 blog post, the GOP Senate candidate said that the popular "Twilight" series "is evil and we should not read or watch it," specifically arguing that "entertaining and participating in these kinds of activities leaves us spiritually vulnerable."

"It also leaves us open to the enemy's attacks," she added of the film series starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

She better not come to Forks, Washington then unless she has a garlic wreath and a crucifix. All kinds of vampires, shape shifters and other evil things running around there.

that tried to ban the "satanic" Harry Putter books. All children will want to be witches, or vampires.

(Well, the first half of the episode is funny, the second half takes a serious turn).

4. Is that show any good? (Supernatural)?

I've heard about it for years, and I do enjoy shows about the supernatural: Lucifer, X-Files, Evil, stuff like that.
I'd be willing to give it a try, but no one I know in my real life has ever watched it.

I watched "Charmed" for a few seasons, but after a while they messed with the backstory so much I got frustrated with it and quit.

5. Yes. This is a good show, although IMHO it went on for too long. All kinds of different scenarios

w/ all kinds of critters/angels/the devil/other weird supernatural characters that does really make one wonder if such things exist.

Have fun, it is a good show, w/ actual believable scenes/shows/etc., sometimes it does branch into an X-file type of thing too.

The following seasons are hit or miss, and even the mediocre seasons have 3-4 excellent episodes in each.

Did you converse with him about it?

I'm genuinely curious as to what the attraction is.

I'm not against supernatural fantasies, in fact, it's probably my favorite genre. (I'm a huge LOTR, Narnia, comic book dork).

I also like the "romance" genre as long as it's done well. "Emma" by Jane Austen is my all time favorite non-fantasy novel.

But the whole Twilight thing....If I were stuck for eternity as a teenager....please, put a stake in me!

so I ended up spending lots of time watching bits of movies with him.

I don't know what the particular appeal was, but he did seem to enjoy the fantasy genre. He would watch these ones over and over though.

He definitely was not a teenager.

Everyone I knew that read the books were actually not teenagers either, but young adult women.

Nobody I knew actually went to see the movies, but I got the idea they were aimed at teenage girls.

Maybe I'm being unfair. Maybe they were just fun escapism.

(I have no great desire to watch them to find out, though).

Although if things get crazy enough in this country, I might just do a complete retreat from reality, and watch them all the way through.
