Republican Opposition Backfires As Biden Healthcare Expansion Is Massively Popular

A new poll shows that the Republican opposition to Biden‘s infrastructure plan is backfiring, with his healthcare expansion being very popular.

Via Monmouth University:

Biden is also set to unveil a large spending plan to expand access to healthcare and childcare as well as provide paid leave and college tuition support. Nearly 2 in 3 Americans (64%) support this idea, while 34% are opposed. The poll also finds nearly 2 in 3 Americans support raising taxes on corporations (64%) and individuals earning more than $400,000 (65%) to pay for these plans.

When asked which of these two plans is more important for the country, 21% prioritize the upcoming healthcare proposal while 19% say the infrastructure plan is more important. However, a majority of Americans (54%) say both plans are equally important for the country.

If Biden can get these plans across his desk.

Doing things for people will matter more to the independents and many Rs instead of grievance politics.

Their base is that 35% opposed.

65% of the country wants these things and if Congress delivers we will have massive gains in the midterms.

IMHO, the only hope for fixing our congress will come when it hurts Republicans politically to hold ridiculous views. They must lose election after election if they're ever going to change.

Republicans DO NOT CARE about general public reaction to anything they do. Their only plan (and sadly, it CAN work) is to rile up their base and rig the electoral system enough so that they can regain power, and, once they've regained power, dig in deeper and rig the system some more until they can guarantee anti-democratic minority rule.

The Repubs oppose the infrastructure bill, but it's quite popular. Add raising taxes on the Rich & Corporate, which the Repubs oppose, and it's wildly popular. The Repubs oppose expanding voting access, but that's very popular. The Repubs oppose the government spending more money to improve the lives of the American people, but that's also popular.
