HARTFORD COURANT | APR 27, 2021 AT 2:48 PM
Present your COVID vaccination card at more than 200 Connecticut restaurants to get a free alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage from May 19 to 31. The initiative, for anyone who can prove they have been inoculated against coronavirus, was announced by Gov. Ned Lamont Monday.
Tyler Anderson, chef-owner of Millwrights in Simsbury, said he is participating in the Drinks Are On Us! initiative because The more people get vaccinated, the sooner we will be able to return to business as normal.
I dont believe in pushing people and making people get the vaccine. But I believe in the vaccine and I think its a nice way to incentivize people, Anderson said.
Those who want free drinks also must purchase food. The limit is one free drink per person but customers are welcome to return each of the 13 nights to take advantage of the free drink, as long as food is purchased. Those from out of state are eligible.

This is a great idea! I think we'll be participating a few night during those two weeks.
More:
The list of participating restaurants started with just a handful and has grown to more than 200. Scott Dolch, executive director of the Connecticut Restaurant Association hopes the number will grow to 800 or 1,000.

(16,370 posts)1. Wow, I sure hope some other states get on board!
This is great, just needs to be more widespread. Like nationwide!
I got all excited reading the headline until I got to the word "Connecticut." (Absolutely no disrespect to that state meant. It's just that it's almost 900 miles away from me. )
Psst! Illinois Restaurant Association, are you listening?

(51,584 posts)2. I bet tons of various business could really benefit financially
if they did this as an advertisement. Not only will it get people to think of getting vaxxed when they hadn't really thought they needed to (you know, the selfish people who only care if they get sick and screw everyone else) but it will also get new people into their businesses. It is a win/win.
